This course is the first quarter of an accelerated two-quarter series (1A-B), which, taken together, are equivalent to first-year instruction. The first quarter of accelerated first-year instruction (60A-B). Designed for students with four quarters of college-level Spanish, French, Italian, or Catalan, and native speakers of these Romance languages (including heritage speakers of Portuguese). Emphasizes all language skills, including cultural competence. (Formerly Advanced Beginning and Intermediate Portuguese.)

The second quarter of the 60A-B series completes first-year accelerated instruction of Portuguese for speakers of Spanish, French, Italian, or Catalan, and native speakers of these Romance languages (including heritage speakers of Portuguese).
