BIOE 119L Plant Biotechnology Lab for a Changing World

In-person CURE-style lab course that explores modern methods of plant breeding. A CURE is a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience, meaning students learn by actively doing research. Topics cover the history and motivations for plant breeding, plant propagation, tissue culture, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, simple bioinformatic tools, transformation methods, PCR-based genotyping, and plant phenotyping. Requirements

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 20A, BIOE 20B and BIOE 20C, BIOL 105, or BIOE 106; or permission of the instructor. BIOE 16 and BIOE 137/BIOE 137L are recommended but not required.
