ANTH 151S Workshop in Ethnography Abroad

Prepares students to conduct ethnographic research. Through workshops and fieldwork exercises, students learn how to use immersive, sensory observation and regular writing practice to develop a research question and design a research project, practice ethnographic methods (which may include archival research), write up their findings in a synthetic essay, and present their research findings to an audience. The course covers topics such as ethics, reflexivity, accountability, bias, and positionality. Students create a portfolio of their work across the five weeks.
