Speaking, reading, and writing proficiency in Spanish required. An overview of the development in Spanish theater during the sixteenth and 17th centuries. Special emphasis is placed on the works of Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca. Shows how Lope e Vega, considered the father of theater in Spain, changed the medieval conception of theater and influenced the creation of theater of the same epoch.
